WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: Hi guys. I have decided that I will not be uploading any more images after tomorrows final image, as I've been getting a lot of unsavoury comments about my work and I feel that perhaps this isn't the right place to showcase the kind of photography I do. Shutterchance seems to be a place for traditional photography and purists and whilst this is acceptable, there also has to be room for people who like to experiment with their photography and creativity and merge the two rather than just shooting blindy anything that moves. Thanks to everyone who I've met through here - but I'll now only be using Flickr and Deviant Art, both sites seem to have a more open minded approach to art based photography. Good luck with the photography guys, and thank you to the people who have watched and commented my work. Take Care. :: CREATIVE ART :: DISTORTED REALITY :: DIMENSIONAL COMMENTARY :: Catch up with all my latest work, tutorials, news articles and artist reviews at http://wakenthedead.deviantart.com

WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: I'm going to be uploading a few more abstract, fine art and flower images over the next few weeks just to both diversify my portfolio but also because I have millions of images that aren't portrait related and they never get to see the light of day, and they need love too right? The cow is of the bovine ilk; One end is moo, the other, milk. ~Ogden Nash Snapped whilst on holiday at my sisters place in Edzell, near Brechin. She is surrounded by cow fields and this one ate it's way towards me to say hello. Her name was Ribbon. Texture added in Photoshop - just in case some of you think those might be UFO's...lol.
WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: I am the ancient Apple-Queen, As once I was so am I now. For evermore a hope unseen, Betwixt the blossom and the bough. Ah, where's the river's hidden Gold! And where the windy grave of Troy? Yet come I as I came of old, From out the heart of Summer's joy. - William Morris, Pomona Taken in my sisters garden on a recent visit to her farm in Edzell, just outside Dundee. She has planted 300 trees, apples, plums, cherry and lots more - the blooms were all out and the place looked like an enchanted fairyland.
WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: “The soul's dark cottage, battered and decayed, Lets in new light through chinks that time has made. Stronger by weakness, wiser men become, As they draw near to their eternal home.” ~ Edmund Waller~ I took this image from inside a car which was travelling down some windy country roads at about 60mph (don't worry I wasn't driving!) I saw in the distance this fab house sitting in the middle of some lush green fields and as we got closer just had to snap a few shots, luckily I got a few good ones - this is the kind of place I want to move to when we move house (within the next couple of months hopefully). It's idyllic.
WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: Portraiture will always be my first love, but abstracts especially the lines that everyday object make also hold a fascination with me. With these boxes, which usually hold potatoes, I just loved the richness of the wood, the painted identity marks and the way they were stacked - sometimes it's just enough to see beauty in something so ordinary and mundane - something that other people usually overlook. Taken at a potato farm just outside brechin in Scotland. :: CREATIVE ART :: DISTORTED REALITY :: DIMENSIONAL COMMENTARY :: Catch up with all my latest work, tutorials, news articles and artist reviews at http://wakenthedead.deviantart.com

WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: Another departure from portraiture for me. Whilst I’m ill and unable to commit to shooting with models, I’ve been working on shooting stuff closer to home – everyday objects around me, flowers etc. It’s a great exercise in training your eye, adapting portraiture skills for fine art work and just generally diversifying my portfolio a bit. I’m still trying to find my own voice with my fine art work and flower studies – I still have to find my own signature style for this kind of work, but in the meantime it’s fun experimenting with images. Hope you enjoy this one, taken near Dundee in Scotland on a lovely sunny day. I have no idea what kind of plant produced these burrs, further research is required to find out. I love a good research project! Hugs y’all.
WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: Everyone has been contacting me asking me where I am, which is hugely nice of you all. I've been offline for about 2-3 weeks as I'm really ill at the moment and can't sit at the pc for any amount of time. I finally got a date to go in for surgery - June 30th and I'll be offline for about 3-4 weeks afterwards *sobs* Whilst I'm waiting for my surgery, I can't do any formal portrait photography as planning and shooting is just too sore. So to keep myself occupied I've just been carrying my camera with me whenever I go anywhere and the result is a few flower images. It's a mile away from my normal genre of gothic and fashion based portraits but I like it and it's always nice to diversify. Let me know what you think! Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into. ~Henry Beecher, Life Thoughts, 1858 :: CREATIVE ART :: DISTORTED REALITY :: DIMENSIONAL COMMENTARY :: Catch up with all my latest work, tutorials, news articles and artist reviews at http://wakenthedead.deviantart.com

WakentheDead Photography ::PASSION::ART::CREATIVE CHAOS:: "to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human" ~ Tool, Lateralus. There's a lot of meaning behind this image, however rather than inflict my perception of what the image is about, I'll leave it up to you to decide. Is it just a girl in a dress sitting on a window, or is there more meaning in the image than is first apparent? The song, Lateralus by Tool, very much inspired this image and as such the title is dedicated to lyrics from this song. If you want to, I recommend checking out the song and the band. This shot is from a shoot in Edinburgh late last summer with a fabulous model called Amy. I'll upload a few more, it was a great location, great model and great experience!
